BOATING TO WORK
Some villages in the countryside of Vietnam are best reached by boat. Supplies and team members are taking a leisurely ride along one of the tributaries in the Mekong Delta. None of us typically take a long boat ride to work – but while there are roads to the villages, the waterways are certainly faster. While these remote villages have some access to “western” medicine, there is still a huge amount of herbal medicine practiced.
Reading glasses are especially favored by the people here as access to them is definitely limited. Because they are an agrarian society, there are lots of musculoskeletal dysfunctions within the population – which is why osteopathic manipulative treatments are so useful. Teaching better body mechanics and exercises they can continue long after we leave are important parts of our mission.
